Doosan Skoda Power has been contracted to supply a steam turbine and generator for the 770MW EMPALME I combined cycle plant in Mexico.
A consortium comprising SENER and OHL has selected Doosan Skoda Power to supply a 300MW, three-casing steam turbine and generator.
The condensing steam turbine with reheat will be designed to withstand high inlet steam temperatures as well as meeting the demanding requirements of operation, the company said.
Under the contract, Doosan will also be responsible to carry out installation and commissioning of the equipment.
Doosan Skoda Power Latin America manager David Zeman said: "The project will be the largest installation by Doosan Skoda Power in a combined cycle plant in Latin America and confirms the strength of Doosan steam turbine technology in territories operating on 60Hz or 50Hz grids."
Located in Sonora state in north-western Mexico, the combined cycle plant will be operated by state-owned electric company CFE. It is expected to become operational by the end of next year.

The electricity generated at the plant will be enough to partly meet the region’s energy demand, which is expected to grow by 3.6%.
David Zeman added: "Investments in R&D and local services for maintenance and operation are the key aspect of Doosan’s strategy in Latin America.
"Following the excellent operating performance of El Sauz and Hermosillo power plants, and with Doosan Skoda Power celebrating 111 years of designing and manufacturing steam turbines, we are pleased to be a trusted partner to CFE and becoming an important part of the Mexican energy sector."
The company also supplied a high-efficient steam turbine generator set for the Infraestructura Energética Mejillones (IEM1) coal-fired power plant in Chile.
Doosan said that the steam turbine is tailor-made to withstand high seismic activity in Chile.
