Alstom Bharat Forge Power (ABFPL) has started production at its supercritical turbines and generators facility in Sanand, Gujarat in India.
Alstom Bharat Forge Power is a joint venture formed by France-based Alstom and Indian engineering firm Bharat Forge.

The manufacturing centre covers an area of 185,000m2 and has a capacity to produce 4000MW of power equipment for Indian energy developments.
Bharat Forge chairman and managing director Baba Kalyani said: "This reaffirms our commitment to strengthening India’s Infrastructure backbone in the years ahead."
At present, 250 employees are employed in the plant, which is expected to increase to 650 in the future.
The facility has started production in 17 months, after construction commenced in November 2013.

By GlobalDataCommissioning of the new facility is expected to assist ABFPL in increasing its business capabilities in the country and speed up its shift towards ultra-supercritical technology.
First deliveries from the manufacturing facility have been planned for later this year.
ABFPL CEO and managing director Alain Spohr said: "Alstom and Bharat Forge are delighted to be announcing the commencement of operations at its manufacturing facility in Gujarat and support the Indian Government’s vision to promote supercritical and ultra-supercritical technology.
"The company is excited about the growth opportunities enabled by the opening of this state-of-the-art facility as it provides an indication to the next wave of growth driven by the increased focus on infrastructure development in the country."
