Swiss technology company Paradox Engineering has entered into a partnership agreement with Switzerland’s Azienda Elettrica di Massagno (AEM) to develop new technologies to manage power distribution networks and design new utility services.
Under the three-year agreement, the partnership will trial new Smart Grid and Smart City solutions based on the Internet of Things (IoT). The collaboration aims to improve efficiency of existing infrastructures, promote sustainable growth, and boost local economy.
AEM and Paradox Engineering already worked together with SUPSI University to implement a Smart Grid project covering the entire AEM basin in Ticino Canton, Switzerland.
Using Paradox Engineering’s network platforms, smart meters will be deployed to collect information from field devices and send commands to enable remote control. This solution will make load management over the network more efficient, saving costs and ultimately reducing energy prices for end users.
The implementation of a narrowband or broadband data transport network is completely based on the Paradox Engineering’s technologies, which would help in designing new applications for parking management, traffic video surveillance, and public Wi-Fi services.
Work will be carried out after consulting local municipalities, with activities around this Smart Urban Network to begin in February this year.
