UK-based engineering and construction company J Murphy & Sons has acquired Carillion’s UK power framework business.
Under the deal, J Murphy & Sons has taken over Carillion’s substation, underground cable framework contracts and its position on the National Grid’s electricity overhead lines.
J Murphy & Sons CEO John Murphy said: “This represents an excellent strategic fit for the business, allowing us to bring a full range of services across the power sector for our customers both in the UK and internationally.”
As a result of the acquisition, J Murphy & Sons and Eltel have created a new JV company called MEJV for the overhead line and T-pylon frameworks.
John further added: “We have a strong sense of purpose, committed to improving lives by delivering world-class infrastructure. I’m pleased to be able to work with our new partners Eltel to continue supporting The National Grid and deliver essential energy infrastructure.”
The power frameworks acquired from Carillion will enable J Murphy & Sons to work with The National Grid and deliver planned replacement and refurbishment schemes on the transmission network between England and Wales.
