Masdar, in collaboration with Sarawak Energy and Gentari, is conducting a feasibility study for a potential large-scale floating solar power plant on the Murum reservoir in Sarawak, Malaysia.
The companies have signed a joint study agreement to evaluate technical, environmental and economic aspects to determine the project’s viability.
The exchange of documents formalising the partnership took place at Masdar’s headquarters in Abu Dhabi.
If the project is found to be feasible, the floating solar installation will significantly bolster Sarawak’s renewable energy capabilities.
It would provide a sustainable power solution and serve as an innovative benchmark for floating solar projects in Southeast Asia.
Masdar CEO Mohamed Jameel Al Ramahi stated: “Our partnership with Sarawak Energy and Gentari represents a powerful convergence of expertise and ambition in the pursuit of a sustainable energy future.
