LONGi Solar has secured a contract to supply passivated emitter and rear cell (PERC) modules for the 224MW ‘bifacial+tracker’ power generation project being built in Mitchell County, Georgia, US.
The project is expected to be complete by the end of this year. It will generate enough clean power for more than 30,000 households in the first ten years of operation.
Additionally, the project is expected to generate more than $12m of income for the local economy.
According to the company, the combination of the flat uniaxial tracker with bifacial module allows for continuous tracking of sunlight. This results in 15% more power generation at appropriate latitude.
The technology also enables the module’s rear side to make use of the high reflectivity of the desert environment to boost power generation by more than 10%.
LONGi Solar claims that the combination would result in a 25% additional power generation when compared with the traditional monofacial module + fixed rack PV system.
