Global rotor blade access systems (BAS) supplier Käufer Befahrtechnik is set to commercially release its new rotor blade access system for wind turbines, K-BP-4 BAS, in spring next year.
Prior to the release, the rotor blade access system will be introduced at the WindEnergy Hamburg trade fair, scheduled to take place next month in Germany.
The company explained that its new K-BP-4 BAS has been designed for large and powerful wind turbines with up to 12MW power generation capacity.
Equipped with a new TÜV approved system, the new K-BP-4 BAS will enable rotor blade specialists to perform scheduled maintenance, as well as advanced repairs on rotor blades from wind turbines.
Käufer Befahrtechnik technical director Dirk Käufer said: “With our new BAS we adapt to the continuous improving safety and technical requirements for working in the harsh environmental conditions surrounding wind turbine towers and rotor blades.”
Additionally, the new BAS comes with side gangways that can be opened mechanically, thereby allowing the technicians to reach the full 360° longitudinal repair area surrounding the rotor blades.
