JERA Nex, the global renewable energy division of JERA, has expanded its international presence with the acquisition of two solar projects in the US, totalling 395MW of alternating current, from Lightsource bp.
This marks the first acquisition by JERA Nex since its inception in April 2024 and introduces the first US solar assets into its portfolio.
The acquired assets include the 300MW Oxbow solar farm – the largest in Louisiana – and the 95MW Happy solar farm in Arkansas. Both are currently operational.
The Happy solar farm has a long-term power purchase agreement (PPA) with Conway Corp., a city-owned utility in Conway, Arkansas.
Oxbow has secured long-term PPA agreements with two prominent corporations, McDonald’s and eBay.
JERA Nex vice-president for development and construction onshore Richard Scott stated: “We are delighted to take our first step into the US solar market with the acquisition of these projects.
