Grenergy has entered a strategic partnership with Contemporary Amperex Technology Co (CATL), a leading battery manufacturer, to supply batteries for the fourth phase of the Oasis de Atacama solar/storage project in Chile.
CATL will provide Grenergy with 1.25 gigawatt hours (GWh) of its EnerX model containers, which include more than 7,100 modules.
The containers are notable for their high energy storage density and safety features, particularly at the high altitude of 4,000m above sea level where the project is located.
The use of lithium iron phosphate (LFP) technology ensures the batteries are both safe and reliable.
The Oasis de Atacama project, situated in northern Chile, has a storage capacity of 11GWh and a solar capacity of 2GW.
It is being developed with a total investment of $2.3bn and is expected to generate 5.5 terawatt hours of energy annually, contributing significantly to the region’s renewable energy output.
