GE Renewable Energy has finalised supply and service contracts for the 1.1GW Ocean Wind offshore project in New Jersey, US.
The company will equip Ørsted’s Ocean Wind project with GE’s Haliade-X 12MW wind turbine, with an option to use the 13MW variant. The project lies 15 miles off the coast of southern New Jersey.
GE Renewable Energy Offshore Wind president and CEO John Lavelle said: “We are excited to be a part of New Jersey’s inaugural offshore wind project and look forward to a long partnership with both Ørsted and the Garden State.
“The New Jersey Wind Port will be a great resource for the offshore wind industry, including GE Renewable Energy, to use in maximising the environmental and economic development benefits that offshore wind can bring to the state and the nation.”
Additionally, GE’s agreements include a five-year service and warranty agreement. Under this, it will provide operational support for the wind turbines along with the Ørsted operational and maintenance team. The contracts are subject to final notice to proceed.
Upon completion, Ocean Wind will power half a million New Jersey homes annually.
