Dutch survey company Fugro has renewed its collaboration with PTSC Geos & Subsea Services (G&S) to deliver site characterisation services to the offshore wind sector in Vietnam.
Under the two-year extension of their memorandum of understanding (MoU), Fugro will provide geophysical, geotechnical and metocean data services in the country.
The extended MoU represents a new milestone in Fugro and PTSC G&S’s partnership, which was formed in 2011.
Fugro regional strategic sales and marketing director Jerry Paisley stated: “Vietnam holds tremendous potential for offshore wind power and, after over a decade of working here with our local partner, PTSC G&S, we’re thrilled to be unlocking geo-data insights to now help develop Vietnam’s offshore wind market.”
PTSC G&S director Truong Tuan Nghia added: “With over four decades of experience serving the Vietnamese and wider Southeast Asian market, we’re pleased to be extending our agreement with Fugro so we can carry on delivering comprehensive geophysical, geotechnical and metocean surveys to our valued clients across Vietnam’s energy industry.”
Vietnam’s government has set a 6GW target for offshore wind power by 2030, to reach between 70GW and 91.5GW by 2050.

By GlobalDataIn July 2021, Fugro was awarded a geotechnical contract for the landmark La Gan offshore wind farm in the country.
The contract was granted to a consortium led by Vietsovpetro, PTSC G&S and Fugro by La Gan Wind Power Development, which is jointly owned by Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners (CIP), Asiapetro and Novasia.
The state-owned Vietnamese oil and gas company PVN and Danish fund manager CIP have agreed to collaborate on renewable energy and in particular on offshore wind.
The companies will share expertise and explore the development of offshore wind power projects.
They will exchange knowledge on transitioning from fossil fuels to renewable sources in the technology, supply chain and logistics areas.
