Global renewable energy assets developer and operator Fred. Olsen Renewables (FOR) has placed an order with ZX Lidars for integrated nacelle wind Lidars on each of its wind turbines at the 105MW Högaliden Wind Farm in Sweden.
The inclusion of nacelle Lidar is expected to enhance performance optimisation and ensure complete control over the wind farm.
The Lidar technology will be incorporated on the nacelle of Vestas’ V150-4.2MW turbine at the wind farm.
FOR project director Øyvind Lund said: “We expect all our future projects to feature nacelle-mounted Lidar wind measurement.
“High-resolution wind data ahead of the turbine, representative of what the whole turbine rotor will see, allows Fred. Olsen Renewables as the wind farm owner to make informed decisions on how we optimize the operation of our energy assets. We thank Vestas and ZX Lidars for their commitment to this project. ”
The ZX TM wind Lidar on the nacelle of the turbines will remotely assess wind conditions at several ranges ahead and across the complete rotor diameter.

By GlobalDataZX Lidars are designed to provide vertical and horizontal profiling of wind Lidar for accurately measuring the wind conditions remotely and ahead of their installed position.
The data gathered remotely in the free stream, as well as in the turbine induction zone and across the wind farm will be used to benchmark the performance of individual turbines.
Last week, Vestas secured a 206MW order from Quadran Brasil, a subsidiary of the French multinational company Quadran International for the Serrote wind park, which is located at the municipality of Trairí, Ceará, Brazil.
