Enel Green Power RSA (EGP RSA) has commenced construction on the 140MW Oyster Bay wind farm in South Africa. Located in the Kouga Local Municipality in Eastern Cape Province, the Oyster Bay wind farm will be built with an investment of approximately €180m.
Featuring 41 wind turbines, Oyster Bay will be capable of generating around 568GWh of power per year and eliminate around 590,000t of carbon dioxide annually. The windfarm is expected to be fully operational in the second quarter of 2021.

By GlobalDataAdditionally, Oyster Bay has a 20-year power supply agreement in place with the South African energy utility Eskom and Enel
EGP RSA noted that advanced tools and methods will be used for the construction of the project. This includes monitor and remotely support activities at the site, plant commissioning, conduct quality controls on site and smart track wind turbine components.
The company has also committed to create jobs in the community surrounding Oyster Bay.
