Emerson power and water solutions business president Bob Yeager said: “As the power industry builds on its renewables focus, having the right tools to effectively harness this natural energy is critical.

“This important addition of a highly-respected hydropower company will enable us to provide comprehensive solutions to our power customers, from generating consistent hydropower to providing the industry’s leading control system to safely and efficiently manage power operations.”

Emerson expects the new addition to enhance its technology capabilities and expertise in the renewables and power industry.

American Governor’s digital governor controllers will complement Emerson’s Ovation distributed control system and RX3i programmable automation controllers.

Headquartered near Philadelphia, American Governor is engaged in providing technologies and services for hydroelectric turbines controls.

These digital governor controllers support utilities in offering reliable power generation and ensure efficient and safe operations.

With a workforce of 50 employees, American Governor offers aftermarket capabilities with advanced customer service and training programmes. It has a presence in more than 1,500 customer locations across the globe.

In June 2015, Emerson won an order from National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC) of India to deliver automation technology for two units at the 1600MW Darlipali Super Thermal Power Station in Odisha, India.
