Welsh renewable energy company Bute Energy has revealed plans for the development of Llyn Lort Energy Park, a 165MW wind farm to be located in Powys County, Wales.
The power produced by the wind farm will meet the requirements of approximately 144,000 households.
The project will facilitate the switch from fossil fuels to renewable energy, supporting the Welsh Government’s 2035 goal of procuring 100% of its electricity needs from renewable sources.
Bute Energy plans to build the Llyn Lort wind farm south-west of Llanerfyl and west of Cefn Coch in the county, entirely within a pre-assessed area as per the government’s Future Wales: The National Plan 2040.
It will be powered by 25 turbines with a maximum blade tip height of 220m.
Bute Energy project manager Iain Foster said: “We are pleased to be launching the proposed Llyn Lort Energy Park, which responds to the climate emergency, reduces our reliance on fossil fuels and supports the Welsh Government’s target for electricity to be 100% renewable by 2035.

It wants to hear opinions from the local community about the turbine locations, buildings, equipment and access routes in this first round of consultation.
Last month, Bute Energy submitted another application to develop Twyn Hywel Energy Park, a 92.4MW wind farm to be located between Caerphilly County Borough and Rhondda Cynon Taf County Borough.
The project will generate clean energy for 81,000 homes.
