Inspection and certification provider Bureau Veritas has acquired Versatec Energy, a specialised technical advisory company for the offshore and onshore energy industry.

The financial details of the deal have not been disclosed.

The acquisition of Versatec Energy is a strategic step for Bureau Veritas to enhance its role as a key partner in ensuring technical compliance and managing industrial risks within the energy sector.

This move aligns with Bureau Veritas’ LEAP | 28 strategy, which focuses on expanding its presence in the growing renewables sector and supporting the broader energy transition.

It is also expected to strengthen the company’s capabilities in developing and managing renewable and low-carbon assets.

The integration of Versatec Energy’s expertise will allow Bureau Veritas to expand its services in key sectors such as oil and gas, nuclear, and renewables, as well as emerging low-carbon technologies such as hydrogen and carbon capture, utilisation, and storage.

Versatec Energy CEO Klaas-Otto Ykema said: “Having spent two decades in and around offshore energy, I have always admired Bureau Veritas’ diverse skills across testing, inspection and certification.

“Joining forces will allow [us] to further expand a business with scale, ambition and a global client book thanks to our unique skills and talents developed over the last 40 years across all parts of the energy sector.”

In September this year, Bureau Veritas acquired ArcVera Renewables, a provider of consulting and technical services for wind, solar, and energy storage projects.
