Canadian renewables developer Boralex has won projects totalling 32.6MW in France’s fourth round of an onshore wind tender.
The two projects are Seuil de Cambrésis Phase 2 with 19.8MW capacity and the 12.8MW Extension de la Plaine d’Escrebieux.
Seuil de Cambrésis wind project is located in the Nord department in the municipalities of Ribecourt-la-Tour, Noyelles-sur-Escaut and Cantaing-sur-Escaut. Commissioned in September 2019, it is formed of seven wind turbines with a capacity of 3.4MW each.
The two projects already have the required administrative authorisations in place. The company participated in the competition that was conducted by the Ministry for the Ecological and Inclusive Transition of France. The combined capacity of 20 winning projects in this tender was 576MW.
Boralex Europe vice-president and general manager Nicolas Wolff said: “Boralex is very pleased with the results of this call for tenders which highlight the competitive nature of our renewable energy projects.
“Our wind projects create jobs and generate property tax for the hosting communities. Additionally, local inhabitants are proud to play a role in France’s ecological transition.”
