Global engineering, procurement, consulting and construction company Black & Veatch has been selected to build 200 megawatt hours (MWh) of battery energy storage solution (BESS) in the UK.
Two UK-based companies have appointed Black & Veatch as the owner’s engineer (OE) and technical advisor (TA) on two BESS projects in Scotland and northwest England.
The UK government unveiled emissions reduction targets in 2023, planning to become net zero by 2050.
Scotland has set its own target and intends to become a net zero economy by 2045.
Black & Veatch will act as an independent advocate, ensuring all contractor deliverables meet the highest technical standards.
The company will offer technical advice, construction monitoring, schedule tracking, and oversight on both projects’ development, design and construction phases.
