Global engineering company Bechtel has completed construction of the 1.1GW Hummel Station Power Plant in Shamokin Dam, Pennsylvania, for Panda Power Funds.

The Hummel Station Power Plant is a natural gas-fuelled combined-cycle power facility and will generate enough power to meet the electricity needs of more than one million homes in the region.

For the Hummel Station Power Plant, Bechtel provided project management, EPC, and startup services.

Siemens, the company’s consortium partner, supplied core power elements such as natural gas and steam turbines, generators, and heat recovery steam generators.

The Hummel Station power facility is located at the retired Sunbury coal-fired power plant and is a coal-to-natural gas power replacement project.

The project created nearly 1,000 jobs during the construction period and has retained more than 30 long-term jobs to support the operations at the site.
