German renewable energy company BayWa Re has acquired French wind and solar project developer Enerpole for an undisclosed amount.
Established in 2005 in Carcassonne, France, Enerpole has long been a preferred partner of BayWa Re.

Enerpole founder Jean-Paul Boulze said: “We have been working with BayWa Re for many years.

With this acquisition, BayWa Re has added a project portfolio of 600MW, including 300MW of solar and 300MW of wind capacity.

BayWa Re has tripled the count of its employees to 130 in the last three years and plans to hire another 30 people this year.
With the Enerpole acquisition, BayWa Re has established its seventh office in France while also bolstering its presence in the Occitanie region of southern France.
BayWa Re France managing director Can Nalbantoglu said: “The acquisition of Enerpole is consistent with BayWa Re’s development strategy in France, one of the company’s key markets, which accounts for 20% of its results.
“We have a territorial approach that focuses on the challenges and needs of each region. The Occitanie region is third in France in terms of installed wind power, and second in terms of installed solar capacity.
“Its potential and the high quality of its solar and wind resources naturally made the region a strategic one for developing renewable energy in France.”
Since 2005, BayWa Re has been active in the French market, installing and commissioning 315MW of wind and solar farms.
It also provides technical and commercial management services for almost 600MW of capacity.
The company currently has a project pipeline of 2.2GW, comprising 1GW wind capacity and 1.2GW solar capacity, in development in France.
In May 2019, BayWa Re acquired the UK renewable energy business of European company Forsa Energy.
