BayWa r.e., a company specialising in renewable energy, has agreed to manage a collective 406MW of power across 14 wind farms in England and Scotland.

The company will provide technical asset management services under a ten-year asset management agreement with Greencoat UK Wind, the leading renewable infrastructure fund, managed by Schroders Greencoat.

The wind portfolio covered in the agreement contains eight wind farms in Scotland and six in England. Together, the projects will generate enough electricity to power 143,700 homes.

A total of nine of these wind assets have been both retained and extended.

BayWa r.e. chief operations officer Daniel Gäfke stated: “Having been active in the UK market for over 14 years, we are proud of the team’s accomplishments and the strong, collaborative relationships we have built with partners such as Schroders Greencoat.

“These collaborations enable us to jointly move towards a more sustainable future. The UK remains one of our key markets, and we look forward to continuing our impactful work in the region.”

Greencoat UK Wind, listed on the London Stock Exchange in 2013, manages a diverse portfolio of 49 wind farms across the UK.

With a combined capacity of 2GW, the firm plays a significant role in the country’s renewable energy landscape and continues to expand its reach.

Schroders Greencoat asset manager Dickson Leung stated: “We are delighted to sign this long-term framework agreement. Working in partnership with BayWa r.e., with their expert knowledge within the industry, will help support our own ambitions, and that of the sector, as we all work towards net zero goals in the UK and beyond.”

In March 2025, BayWa r.e. secured €435m in funding from shareholders and financial partners to support its transformation.
