Axess Technologies has secured a significant contract with HSM Offshore Energy for the installation of platform cables at the 1060MW Thor offshore wind farm in Denmark.

Located off the Danish west coast, the offshore wind facility will generate enough clean energy to power more than one million households once completed.

The contract includes project management, engineering, and the installation of 66kV and 275kV internal platform cables in the Thor offshore substation topside.

Axess Technologies will begin the project in the first quarter (Q1) of 2025 at HSM’s Schiedam Yard in the Netherlands.

HSM Offshore Energy, known for its expertise in engineering, procurement, construction, installation, and commissioning of multidisciplinary offshore projects, will collaborate with Axess to ensure the project’s success.

Once fully operational in 2027, Thor offshore wind farm is set to become Denmark’s largest offshore wind facility, with a planned capacity of 1060MW.

Axess Technologies business development manager Edwin Tieman said: “This is the first contract awarded to Axess Technologies by HSM in the Netherlands.

“We are delighted to work on this project with HSM and its project team. Securing this contract and gaining the trust of HSM demonstrates our capabilities in this field.”

Last October, Fugro, a Dutch provider of offshore surveying services, received a contract to perform a geophysical survey for the Thor offshore wind farm located in the North Sea.

The survey will involve searching for unexploded ordnance.

The data collected will help in determining cable routes and identifying suitable locations for the installation of the turbines.
