Victoria is a 210MW hydro power project. It is located on Mahaweli river/basin in Central, Sri Lanka. The project is currently active. It has been developed in single phase. The project construction commenced in 1980 and subsequently entered into commercial operation in 1984.

Description

The project is currently owned by Ceylon Electricity Board.

The hydro reservoir capacity is 722 million cubic meter. The net head of the project is 190m. The project generated 686 GWh of electricity.

Contractors Involved

Andritz Hydro was selected as the turbine supplier for the hydro power project. The company provided 3 units of francis turbines, each with 70MW nameplate capacity.

GE Renewable Energy supplied electric generator(s) for the project.
