The project is currently owned by Eskom Holdings SOC with a stake of 100%.
Vanderkloof is a reservoir based project. The net head of the project is 65m. The total number of penstocks, pipes or long channels that carry water down from the hydroelectric reservoir to the turbines inside the actual power station, are 2 in number. The penstock diameter is 7m. The project generated 932 GWh of electricity.

Andritz Hydro was selected as the turbine supplier for the hydro power project. The company provided 2 units of francis turbines, each with 120MW nameplate capacity.
