It is a Combined Cycle Gas Turbine (CCGT) power plant. The power plant run on dual-fuel. The primary fuel being used to power the plant is natural gas. In case of shortage of natural gas the plant can also run on Distillate Fuel Oil. The fuel is procured from Kinder Morgan, Enbridge.
The project generated 2,530,600MWh of electricity.

Tenaska Gateway distributes its electricity to multiple electric power distribution grids extending beyond the Electric Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT). Its electric generating power station is purchased by Shell Energy North America L.P. The company is affiliated to sell the power on a merchant basis within ERCOT. The company’s generating equipments has three General Electric Frame 7FA gas turbines, three heat recovery steam generators and one General Electric steam turbine.
