South and Central America power industry contracts in Q4 2020: Brazil leads activity
Looking at contracts by country, Brazil led the activity in Q4 2020 with 25 contracts and a share of 47.2%, up 18.9% over the previous quarter and down 34% when compared with the last four-quarter average, followed by Chile with 12 contracts and a share of 22.6% and Colombia with six contracts and a share of 11.3% during the quarter.
Looking at the last four-quarter average, Brazil held the top spot with 38 contracts, followed by Chile with 17 and Colombia with seven contracts.

Solar is top technology area for contracts in Q4 2020
Looking at contracts divided by the type of technology, solar accounted for the largest proportion with 23 contracts and a 43.4% share, followed by wind with 16 contracts and a 30.2% share and hydro with seven contracts and a 13.2% share.
Looking at power industry contracts divided by segment as tracked by GlobalData, Generation Equipment was the most popular segment in South and Central America power contracts activity during Q4 2020, with 21 contracts, followed by Electricity Procurement (13) and Power Plant (9).
The proportion of contracts by category tracked by GlobalData in the quarter was as follows:
- Supply & Erection: 25 contracts and a 47.2% share
- Power Purchase Agreement: ten contracts and an 18.9% share
- Project Implementation: ten contracts and an 18.9% share
