Description
The project is being developed and currently owned by Iran Water and Power Resources Development.
The hydro reservoir capacity is planned to be 4,500 million cubic meter. The total number of penstocks, pipes or long channels that carry water down from the hydroelectric reservoir to the turbines inside the actual power station, is expected to be 2 in number. The penstock length will be 500m. The penstock diameter will be 7m. The project is expected to generate 4,500 GWh of electricity.
Development status
The project construction is expected to commence from 2007. Subsequent to that it will enter into commercial operation by 2012.

Farab is expected to render engineering procurement construction services for the hydro power project.
Voith Hydro Holding will be the turbine supplier for the hydro power project. The project consists of 8 units of Francis turbines, each with 250MW nameplate capacity.
ELIN Motoren is expected to supply 4 electric generators for the Upper Gotvand (Phase-I). The generator capacity is likely to be 278 MVA.
