Description

The project was developed by CMS Energy and Volta River Authority. Abu Dhabi National Energy and Volta River Authority are currently owning the project having ownership stake of 90% and 10% respectively.

It is a Combined Cycle Gas Turbine (CCGT) power plant. The power plant run on dual-fuel. The primary fuel being used to power the plant is natural gas. In case of shortage of natural gas the plant can also run on Light Crude Oil. The fuel is procured from Volta River Authority.

Development status

The project got commissioned in March 2000.

Power purchase agreement

The power generated from the project is sold to Volta River Authority under a power purchase agreement for a period of 25 years.

KEPCO Engineering and Construction was selected to render engineering procurement construction services for the Takoradi 2-TICO Power Station (Takoradi 2-TICO Power Station Unit III) project. Mitsui was selected to render engineering procurement construction services for the Takoradi 2-TICO Power Station (Takoradi 2-TICO Power Station Unit III) project.

Takoradi 2-TICO Power Station (Takoradi 2-TICO Power Station Unit I) is equipped with GE Power 9E.03 gas turbines. The phase consists of gas turbines with 110MW nameplate capacity.

Takoradi 2-TICO Power Station (Takoradi 2-TICO Power Station Unit II) is equipped with GE Power 9E.03 gas turbines. The phase consists of gas turbines with 110MW nameplate capacity.
