Description
The project is being developed by Tahara Bio-power. Japan Petroleum Exploration, Shizuoka Gas, Tokyo Energy & Systems, Kawasaki Kinkai Kisen Kaisha, Daiichi Jitsugyo, Iwatani International and Solariant Capital are currently owning the project having ownership stake of 39.9%, 20%, 20%, 7%, 6%, 5% and 2.1% respectively.
The project is expected to generate 350GWh electricity and supply enough clean energy to power 110,000 households.
Tahara Biomass Power Project is a combined heat and power (CHP) project. Wood pellets which is a kind of wood by-product will be used as a feedstock to power the project.
Development status
Post completion of the construction, the project is expected to get commissioned in April 2025.
Power purchase agreement
The power generated from the project will be sold to Chubu Electric Power under a power purchase agreement at the rate of $0.197kWh.
Contractors involved
Mitsubishi Heavy Industries will be the steam turbine supplier for the project.
Tokyo Energy & Systems is expected to perform operations and maintenance for the project.
