Description
The project is being developed by Tahara Biomass Power. Chubu Electric Power, JFE Engineering, Toho Gas and Tokyo Century are currently owning the project having ownership stake of 40%, 40%, 10% and 10% respectively.
The project is expected to generate 770GWh electricity and supply enough clean energy to power 25,000 households.
The process of combustion will be adopted in this project to release the stored energy from the feed. Wood chips which is a kind of wood by-product will be used as a feedstock to power the project.
Development status
The project construction is expected to commence from 2022. Subsequent to that it will enter into commercial operation by September 2025.
Contractors involved
JFE Engineering is expected to render engineering procurement construction services for the biopower project.
Valmet is likely to be the supplier of the steam boiler for the project.
