Description

The project was developed by Sohar Power Company SAOG. Engie, MENA Sohar 1 SPV, Sogex Oman and Ministry of Defence Pension Fund (Oman) are currently owning the project having ownership stake of 35%, 20%, 10% and 5% respectively.

It is a Combined Cycle Gas Turbine (CCGT) power plant. The power plant run on dual-fuel. The primary fuel being used to power the plant is natural gas. In case of shortage of natural gas the plant can also run on Fuel Oil. The fuel is procured from Ministry of Oil & Gas.

Development status

The project got commissioned in May 2007.

Power purchase agreement

The power generated from the project is sold to Oman Power and Water Procurement under a power purchase agreement for a period of 15 years, starting from 2007.

Doosan Enerbility and Sohar Global Contracting and Construction were selected to render engineering procurement construction services for the gas fired power project.

The Gas fired project have been supplied by GE Power and Siemens.
