Description

The project is being developed by Sapphire Electric and Sinohydro. The project is currently owned by Pakhtunkhwa Energy Development Organization.

Sharmai is a run-of-river project. The hydro reservoir capacity is planned to be 32.2 million cubic meter. The gross head and net head of the project will be 220m and 196.6m respectively. The total number of penstocks, pipes or long channels that carry water down from the hydroelectric reservoir to the turbines inside the actual power station, is expected to be 1 in number. The penstock length will be 849m. The project is expected to generate 682 GWh of electricity.

The hydro power project consists of 2 turbines, each with 75MW nameplate capacity.

Development status

The project construction is expected to commence from 2026. Subsequent to that it will enter into commercial operation by 2028.
