Description

The project was developed by Hajr Electricity Production. Saudi Electricity, Acwa Power, MENA Infrastructure Fund (GP) and Samsung C&T are currently owning the project having ownership stake of 50%, 22.49%, 15% and 12.51% respectively.

It is a Combined Cycle Gas Turbine (CCGT) power plant. The power plant run on dual-fuel. The primary fuel being used to power the plant is natural gas. In case of shortage of natural gas the plant can also run on Diesel.

Development status

The project construction commenced in 2013 and subsequently entered into commercial operation in August 2014.

Power purchase agreement

The power generated from the project is sold to Saudi Electricity under a power purchase agreement for a period of 20 years. The contracted capacity is 3,927MW.

Samsung C&T and Siemens were selected to render engineering procurement construction services for the gas fired power project.

Siemens was selected as the turbine supplier for the Gas fired project. The company provided 12 units of SGT6-5000F gas turbines.
