Description
The project is being developed by Transstroy (India) and United Engineering Services. The project is currently owned by Andhra Pradesh Power Generation.
The hydro reservoir capacity is planned to be 551 million cubic meter. The gross head of the project will be 27.95m. The total number of penstocks, pipes or long channels that carry water down from the hydroelectric reservoir to the turbines inside the actual power station, is expected to be 12 in number. The penstock length will be 360m. The penstock diameter will be 7.5m. The project is expected to generate 2,369.43 GWh of electricity.
Development status
The project construction is expected to commence from 2004. Subsequent to that it will enter into commercial operation by 2024.

The power generated from the project will be sold to DISCOM under a power purchase agreement.

Megha Engineering and Infrastructure and Navayuga Engineering are expected to render engineering procurement construction services for the hydro power project.
Bharat Heavy Electricals will be the turbine supplier for the hydro power project. The company is expected to provide 12 units of kaplan turbines, each with 80MW nameplate capacity.
