Description

The project is being developed by Datang Lao Pak Beng hydropower and Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand. China Datang Overseas Investment and Gulf Energy Development are currently owning the project having ownership stake of 51% and 49% respectively.

Pakbeng is a run-of-river project. The hydro reservoir capacity is planned to be 559 million cubic meter. The net head of the project will be 31m. The project is expected to generate 4,765 GWh of electricity.

The hydro power project consists of 16 turbines, each with 57MW nameplate capacity.

The project has 16 electric generators that will be installed at the project site.

Development status

Post completion of the construction, the project is expected to get commissioned in 2033.

Power purchase agreement

Electricite du Laos and Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand are expected to be the power offtakers from the project.
