Description

The project was developed by Obayashi Kamisu Biomass Power Generation. Chubu Electric Power, Mitsubishi HC Capital, Solariant Japan and Bio Fuel are currently owning the project having ownership stake of 45%, 44%, 6% and 5% respectively.

The project generates 350GWh electricity and supplies enough clean energy to power 110,000 households.

The process of combustion has been adopted in this project to release the stored energy from the feed. Agricultural by-product and wood by-product are used as a feedstock to power the project.

Development status

The project construction commenced in 2019 and subsequently entered into commercial operation in October 2023.

Power purchase agreement

The power generated from the project is sold to Tokyo Electric Power Co Holdings under a power purchase agreement. The power is sold at the rate of $0.22kWh for a period of 20 years.

Contractors involved

Kanadevia, Okumura and Toyo Engineering were selected to render engineering procurement construction services for the biopower project.

GE Vernova was selected as the steam turbine supplier for the project. The company provided 1 unit of Reheat Turbine turbine with 50MW nameplate capacity.

Andritz supplied steam boiler for the project.Toshiba Mitsubishi-Electric Industrial Systems supplied the electric generator for the project.

JERA is the O&M contractor for the project.
