Description
The project is being developed and currently owned by Tangsibji Hydro Energy.
Nikachhu is a run-of-river project. The hydro reservoir capacity is planned to be 0.537 million cubic meter. The gross head and net head of the project will be 536.25m and 527.5m respectively. The total number of penstocks, pipes or long channels that carry water down from the hydroelectric reservoir to the turbines inside the actual power station, is expected to be 1 in number. The penstock length will be 932m. The penstock diameter will be 3m. The project is expected to generate 491.52 GWh of electricity.
Development status
The project construction is expected to commence from 2016. Subsequent to that it will enter into commercial operation by 2024.
Power purchase agreement
The power generated from the project will be sold to PTC India under a power purchase agreement for a period of 25 years from 2014. The offtake capacity is expected to be 118MW.
