Description
The project is being developed by Kholongchhu Hydro Energy. Druk Green Power and Tata Power are currently owning the project having ownership stake of 60% and 40% respectively.
Kholongchu is a run-of-river project. The net head of the project will be 761.53m. The total number of penstocks, pipes or long channels that carry water down from the hydroelectric reservoir to the turbines inside the actual power station, is expected to be 2 in number. The project is expected to generate 2,568.88 GWh of electricity.
The hydro power project consists of 4 turbines, each with 150MW nameplate capacity.
Development status
The project construction is expected to commence from 2015. Subsequent to that it will enter into commercial operation by 2025.
Power purchase agreement
The power generated from the project will be sold to Tata Power Trading under a power purchase agreement.
