Description

Statkraft, Others and Butwal Power are currently owning the project having ownership stake of 57.1%, 26% and 16.9% respectively.

Khimti is a run-of-river project. The gross head and net head of the project are 684m and 660m respectively. The penstock length is 1,000m. The penstock diameter is 1.8m. The project generated 350 GWh of electricity.

The project construction commenced in 1996 and subsequently entered into commercial operation in 2000.

Power purchase agreement

The power generated from the project is sold to Nepal Electricity Authority under a power purchase agreement for a period of 20 years.

Contractors involved

Andritz Hydro was selected as the turbine supplier for the hydro power project. The company provided 5 units of pelton turbines, each with 12MW nameplate capacity.

GE Renewable Energy supplied 5 electric generators for the project. The generator capacity is 14.2 MVA.
