Description

The project was developed by African Clean Energy Developments, Enel Green Power RSA and Pele Green Energy. Pele Green Energy, Enel, Qatar Investment Authority and Others are currently owning the project having ownership stake of 35%, 27.5%, 27.5% and 10% respectively.

The project generates 500,000MWh electricity and supplies enough clean energy to power 74,269 households, offsetting 500,000t of carbon dioxide emissions (CO2) a year.

The project has 82m high towers.

The project is currently active. The project construction commenced in 2019 and subsequently entered into commercial operation in June 2022.

Power purchase agreement

The power generated from the project is sold to Eskom Holdings SOC under a power purchase agreement. The power is sold at the rate of $0.052kWh for a period of 20 years, starting from 2022. The contracted capacity is 147MW.

Vestas Wind Systems was selected to render engineering procurement construction services for the wind power project.

Vestas Wind Systems was selected as the turbine supplier for the wind power project. The company provided 35 units of V136-4.2 MW turbines, each with 4.2MW nameplate capacity.

Vestas Wind Systems is the O&M contractor for the wind power project. The operation and maintenance contract commenced from 2022, for a period of 5 years.
