Description

The project was developed by Jubail Water and Power. The project is currently owned by Acwa Power with a stake of 20%, Engie with a stake of 20%, Gulf Investment with a stake of 20%, Saudi Electricity with a stake of 5% and Marafiq.

It is a Combined Cycle Gas Turbine (CCGT) power plant. The power plant run on dual-fuel. The primary fuel being used to power the plant is natural gas. In case of shortage of natural gas the plant can also run on High Speed Diesel. The fuel is procured from Saudi Arabian Oil Co.

The project got commissioned in 2010.

The power generated from the project is sold to Marafiq Water and Supply under a power purchase agreement for a period of 20 years from 2010. The contracted capacity is 2,744MW.
