Description

The project was developed by Enel Green Power RSA and Red Cap Energy. Enel Green Power and Others are currently owning the project having ownership stake of 60% and 40% respectively.

The project generates 420GWh electricity and supplies enough clean energy to power 131,000 households, offsetting 383,000t of carbon dioxide emissions (CO2) a year.

The Tubular Steel towers installed at the project site are 91m high.

The project is currently active. The project construction commenced in 2015 and subsequently entered into commercial operation in April 2017.

Power purchase agreement

The power generated from the project is sold to Eskom Holdings SOC under a power purchase agreement for a period of 20 years, starting from 2017.

Contractors involved

Nordex Energy South Africa RF was selected to render engineering procurement construction services for the wind power project.

Nordex was selected as the turbine supplier for the wind power project. The company provided 37 units of N117/3000 turbines, each with 3MW nameplate capacity.

Nordex is the O&M contractor for the wind power project, commencing from the year 2017.
