Description

The project was developed by Aura Power Renewables and Canadian Utilities. The project is currently owned by Canadian Utilities with a stake of 100%.

Empress Solar PV Power Project is a ground-mounted solar project which is spread over an area of 270 acres.

The project supplies enough clean energy to power 11,000 households, offsetting 43,000t of carbon dioxide emissions (CO2) a year.

Development status

The project construction commenced in 2022 and subsequently entered into commercial operation in November 2023.

Power purchase agreement

The power generated from the project is sold to Lafarge Canada under a power purchase agreement for a period of 12.5 years. The contracted capacity is 38.5MW.

Contractors involved

Vsun Solar was selected as the supplier of the PV modules for the project. The company provided 89,000 modules each with 540W of nameplate capacity.

Sungrow Power Supply supplied 12 of its SG3600UD-MV inverters to the project site.

The project is utilising single axis trackers supplied by NEXTracker.
