Description
The project is being developed by Hitachi Zosen Inova and Masdar Tribe Energy Holdings. The project is currently owned by John Laing Group with a stake of 40%, Hitachi Zosen Inova with a stake of 10% and Abu Dhabi Future Energy.
The project is expected to generate 144GWh electricity and supply enough clean energy to power 36,000 households. The project is expected to offset 300,000t of carbon dioxide emissions (CO2) a year.
The process of combustion will be adopted in this combined heat and power (CHP) project to release the stored energy from the feed. Agricultural by-product, industrial waste and municipal solid waste will be used as a feedstock to power the project.
Development status
The project construction is expected to commence from 2020. Subsequent to that it will enter into commercial operation by 2024.

Acciona and Hitachi Zosen Inova Australia are expected to render engineering procurement construction services for the biopower project.
GE Power will be the steam turbine supplier for the project. The company is expected to provide 1 unit of Condensing turbine with 35MW nameplate capacity.
Hitachi Zosen Inova is likely to be the supplier of the steam boiler for the project. The boiler that will get installed at the site is expected to have a capacity of 129TPH. The temperature expected to be witnessed inside the boiler will be around 431°C. The steam will be pressurized inside the boiler at 66bar.
Hitachi Zosen Inova, New Energy and Suez are expected to be contracted for rendering of operations & maintenance services for the project.
