Description

The project was developed by SUEZ Recycling and Recovery UK. The project is currently owned by Itochu with a stake of 20% and SUEZ Recycling and Recovery UK.

The project supplies enough clean energy to power 30,000 households, offsetting 62,000t of carbon dioxide emissions (CO2) a year.

The process of combustion has been adopted in this combined heat and power (CHP) project to release the stored energy from the feed. Household waste which is a kind of municipal solid waste is used as a feedstock to power the project.

The project consists of 1 turbine with 24.2MW nameplate capacity.

The project got commissioned in October 2014.

Contractors involved

Hitachi Zosen Inova was selected to render engineering procurement construction services for the biopower project.

Hitachi Zosen Inova supplied steam boiler for the project. The boiler installed at the site has a capacity of 55.7TPH. The temperature witnessed inside the boiler is around 410Degree Celsius. The steam is pressurized inside the boiler at 50bar.
