Onshore was the top category in wind technology in terms of number of tenders for the quarter, accounting for 24 tenders and a 63.2% share, followed by Offshore with 13 tenders and a 34.2% share. Onshore Repowered stood in third place with one tender and a 2.6% share.

Looking at global power tenders activity divided by the type of technology, wind held the fourth position in terms of number of tenders during Q3 2020 with a 3.8% share.
The proportion of tenders by category in the Wind technology tracked by GlobalData in the quarter was as follows:
- Project Implementation: 14 tenders and a 34.1% share
- Power Purchase Agreement: 12 tenders and a 29.3% share
- Consulting & Similar Services: six tenders and a 14.6% share
- Supply & Erection: four tenders and a 9.8% share
- Electricity Supply: three tenders and a 7.3% share
- Repair, Maintenance, Upgrade & Others: two tenders and a 4.9% share.
Europe leads wind tenders activity in Q3 2020
Comparing tenders activity in wind technology in different regions of the globe, Europe held the top position with 19 tenders and a share of 46.3% during Q3 2020, followed by North America with seven tenders and a 17.1% share and Asia-Pacific with seven tenders and a 17.1% share.
In fourth place was South and Central America with four tenders and a 9.8% share and in fifth place was Middle East and Africa with four tenders and a 9.8% share.
Wind technology tenders in Q3 2020: Top issuers by capacity
The top issuers of tenders in Wind technology for the quarter in terms of power capacity involved were:
- National Energy Regulator of South Africa (South Africa): 12,000MW from one tender
- NSW Coalition State Government: 8,000MW from one tender
- PacifiCorp (United States): 4,300MW capacity from one tender.
