Looking at global power tenders activity divided by the type of technology, wind held the third position in terms of number of tenders during Q2 2021 with a 5.6% share.
The proportion of tenders by category in the Wind technology tracked by GlobalData in the quarter was as follows:
- Project Implementation: 20 tenders and a 39.2% share
- Power Purchase Agreement: nine tenders and a 17.6% share
- Repair, Maintenance, Upgrade & Others: six tenders and an 11.8% share
- Supply & Erection: five tenders and a 9.8% share
- Consulting & Similar Services: five tenders and a 9.8% share
- Electricity Supply: four tenders and a 7.8% share
- Others: two tenders and a 3.9% share.
Europe leads wind tenders activity in Q2 2021
Comparing tenders activity in wind technology in different regions of the globe, Europe held the top position with 20 tenders and a share of 39.2% during Q2 2021, followed by North America with 13 tenders and a 25.5% share and Asia-Pacific with 13 tenders and a 25.5% share.
In fourth place was Middle East and Africa with four tenders and a 7.8% share and in fifth place was South and Central America with one tender and a 2% share.
Wind technology tenders in Q2 2021: Top issuers by capacity
The top issuers of tenders in Wind technology for the quarter in terms of power capacity involved were:
- Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources, Turkey (Turkey) and Netherlands Enterprise Agency (Netherlands): 4,000MW from one tender
- Solar Energy Corporation of India (India): 3,600MW from three tenders
- Southwestern Electric Power Company (SWEPCO) (United States) and Kuwait Authority for Partnership Projects (Kuwait): 3,000MW capacity from one tender.
