Middle East and Africa power industry tenders in July 2021: South Africa leads activity
Looking at tenders by country, South Africa led the activity in July 2021 with 112 tenders and a share of 62.9%, up 13.1% over the previous month and up 84% when compared with the last 12 month-average, followed by Namibia with nine tenders and a share of 5.1% and Jordan with six tenders and a share of 3.4% during the month.
Looking at the last 12-month average, South Africa held the top spot with 61 tenders, followed by Kenya with ten and Oman with five tenders.

Solar is top technology area for tenders in July 2021
Looking at tenders divided by the type of technology, solar accounted for the largest proportion with 29 tenders and a 56.9% share, followed by thermal with 18 tenders and a 35.3% share and hydro with two tenders and a 3.9% share.
Looking at power industry tenders divided by segment in Middle East and Africa as tracked by GlobalData, T&D Equipment was the most popular segment in July 2021, with 108 tenders, followed by Power Plant (26) and T&D Project (21).
The proportion of tenders by category tracked by GlobalData in the month was as follows:
- Supply & Erection: 116 tenders and a 65.2% share
- Project Implementation: 32 tenders and an 18% share
- Repair, Maintenance, Upgrade & Others: 19 tenders and a 10.7% share
- Consulting & Similar Services: ten tenders and a 5.6% share
- Electricity Supply: one tender and a 0.6% share.
Power tenders in July 2021: Top companies by capacity
The top issuers of tenders for the month in terms of power capacity involved in Middle East and Africa were:
- The Islamic Charity Center Society: 950MW from one tender
- Arise IIP: 390MW from one tender
- Tanzania Electric Supply (Tanzania): 185MW capacity from one tender.
