Power industry tenders in March 2020: Asia-Pacific leads global activity
On comparing tenders activity in different regions of the globe, Asia-Pacific held the top position with 398 tenders and a share of 58.8% during March 2020, followed by North America with 175 tenders and a 25.8% share and Europe with 53 tenders and a 7.8% share.
In fourth place was Middle East and Africa with 40 tenders and a 5.9% share and in fifth place was South and Central America with 11 tenders and a 1.6% share.
On the basis of the last 12-month average, Asia-Pacific held a lead over others with 609 tenders, followed by North America with 143.

Thermal tops by technology in March 2020
Looking at tenders by the type of technology, thermal accounted for the largest proportion with 108 tenders and a 50.5% share, followed by solar with 82 tenders and a 38.3% share and wind with 12 tenders and a 5.6% share.
Looking at power industry tenders divided by segment as tracked by GlobalData, T&D Equipment was the most popular segment during March 2020, with 264 tenders, followed by T&D Project (204) and Generation Equipment (102).
The proportion of tenders by category tracked by GlobalData in the month was as follows:
- Supply & Erection: 321 tenders and a 47.4% share
- Project Implementation: 232 tenders and a 34.3% share
- Repair, Maintenance, Upgrade & Others: 102 tenders and a 15.1% share
- Consulting & Similar Services: 12 tenders and a 1.8% share
- Electricity Supply: six tenders and a 0.9% share
- Power Purchase Agreement: four tenders and a 0.6% share.
Power tenders in March 2020: Top companies by capacity
The top issuers of tenders for the month in terms of power capacity involved were:
- Solar Energy Corporation of India (India): 9,066MW from five tenders
- New Jersey Board of Public Utilities (United States): 6,400MW from five tenders
- Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam (India): 2,200MW capacity from two tenders.
