Power industry tenders in February 2021: North America leads global activity
On comparing tenders activity in different regions of the globe, North America held the top position with 217 tenders and a share of 32.1% during February 2021, followed by Middle East and Africa with 188 tenders and a 27.9% share and Asia-Pacific with 135 tenders and a 20% share.
In fourth place was Europe with 116 tenders and a 17.2% share and in fifth place was South and Central America with 19 tenders and a 2.8% share.
On the basis of the last 12-month average, Asia-Pacific held a lead over others with 399 tenders, followed by North America with 218.

Solar tops by technology in February 2021
Looking at tenders by the type of technology, solar accounted for the largest proportion with 129 tenders and a 47.1% share, followed by thermal with 111 tenders and a 40.5% share and wind with 15 tenders and a 5.5% share.
Looking at power industry tenders divided by segment as tracked by GlobalData, T&D Equipment was the most popular segment during February 2021, with 294 tenders, followed by Generation Equipment (125) and Power Plant (124).
The proportion of tenders by category tracked by GlobalData in the month was as follows:
- Supply & Erection: 368 tenders and a 54.5% share
- Project Implementation: 180 tenders and a 26.7% share
- Repair, Maintenance, Upgrade & Others: 94 tenders and a 13.9% share
- Consulting & Similar Services: 19 tenders and a 2.8% share
- Electricity Supply: 11 tenders and a 1.6% share
- Power Purchase Agreement: two tenders and a 0.3% share
- Others: one tender and a 0.1% share.
Power tenders in February 2021: Top issuers by capacity
The top issuers of tenders for the month in terms of power capacity involved were:
- Bundesnetzagentur (Germany): 5,800MW from 11 tenders
- Government of South Africa: 2,600MW from one tender
- Solar Energy Corporation of India (India): 1,885MW capacity from two tenders.
